Briarcliff Trails of Our Community saw an opportunity to grow the existing trail so it could be easily accessed by residents at various points in the neighborhood.
The Briarcliff Nature Trail just received a new addition. More than 1,600 feet of new path was added to the existing trail which winds through the Briarcliff neighborhoods. Phase II of the project connected the trail from the woods to Main St. A sidewalk was also added that connects to the trail and surrounds the Briarcliff Greenway. Phase III added a new access point of the trail next to the baseball diamond and soccer field at Briarcliff Elementary. It winds through the woods connecting to the existing trail and to 40th St.

Beautiful addition. This is visual art worthy of being draped by Christo. Great work!

Thanks for the kind words. It is a great addition to the neighborhood. Two years ago, the landscape architect from the Kansas City Parks Department and I walked the greenway south of 40th St to Water Works Park to get a scope of a possible route through the wide wooded area. No map was actually made when we walked this, just a determination if it was possible, which it is. The earliest the work will start on this Phase IV will be next year.

Great we have roads in the woods, just what the animals enjoy, There have always been trails in the woods, we do we need asphalt to walk on. With traffic you get trash, who is going to clean that up?

This is a great addition for the neighborhood trying to attract families to move into the neighborhood with young families. I guess people don't get "traffic" both ways of why the trail is so wide. If I was on the trail I would not be happy if I had to move off the pathway for others to pass me oncoming or pass by me from behind As for wildlife, there is plenty still there. They are WILD ANIMALS and don't live in the same place year-round. Safety issue, the more people using the trails will create more awareness from those using the trails. Therefore cutting crime down. Change is good and some people have a hard time with it.
